Report on drought and scarcity indicators in the Tagus basin (Sept. 2021/July 2022).

The report details the recorded rainfall in the Tagus basin by season from September 2021 to July 2022, the latest data available at the closing of this report, as well as the Standardized Precipitation Index, which provides information about the normal situation or whether we are facing a more or less humid or more or less dry period. Finally, the drought and scarcity indicators, which show us the situation in which the Tagus basin finds itself with respect to these two well-differentiated concepts.

Given the absence of precipitation and the heat waves that have become widespread in Spain during the summer of 2022, and given the perception that we are immersed in a situation of drought and lack of water, the UCLM-Soliss Tagus Chair has prepared a report with the data existing so far in order to shed light on whether we are really going through a dry period and if, in that case, measures should be established by public administrations.
